MCP for Blender

What it does
A community plugin (formerly blender-mcp) that connects Blender to any LLM through MCP. A Blender add-on runs a local socket server and the MCP server sends it commands, so the AI can create and edit objects, materials and scenes, and pull in assets from Poly Haven, Sketchfab and Poly Pizza. Third-party, not made by or affiliated with Blender. MIT licensed.
Who it's for
Game artists and indie devs who want to block out 3D scenes or props by prompting. The plugin is free; built-in AI 3D model generation without your own API keys is an optional paid Premium feature.
How to set it up
One-command setup on macOS/Linux (installs uv if needed, configures your MCP clients and the Blender add-on):
bashcurl -LsSf https://www.mcp-for-blender.com/install.sh | shWindows PowerShell:
powershellpowershell -ExecutionPolicy ByPass -c "irm https://www.mcp-for-blender.com/install.ps1 | iex"Already have uv? Run setup directly, or add it to Claude Code by hand:
bashuvx mcp-for-blender setup # or claude mcp add blender uvx mcp-for-blenderFully quit and reopen your AI app, then open Blender. By default the AI can run any Python code inside Blender, so save your work first (setting BLENDER_MCP_SAFE_MODE=1 blocks risky scripts).
Privacy: a minimal anonymous usage record (tool name, success, timing, versions, OS) is sent by default; prompts, code and scene data are only collected if you opt in. To turn telemetry off completely, set DISABLE_TELEMETRY=true in the server's env.
Check the official MCP for Blender docs for the latest steps.

A community project from the makers of MCP for Unity, not affiliated with the Godot Foundation. MIT licensed.
