Last checked against the official docs:

What it does

An open-source platform for running coding agents. Its Agent Canvas app (labeled beta) is a self-hosted control center where you start agent conversations and set up automations (for example with Slack, GitHub or Linear). It runs the OpenHands agent by default and can also run Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and other ACP-compatible agents, locally, in Docker, on VMs or in OpenHands Cloud. MIT licensed.

Who it's for

Developers and teams who want agents running on their own machines or servers, ideally in a sandbox, with any LLM. The self-hosted app is free; OpenHands Cloud and Enterprise are paid options.

How to set it up

  1. Quick local install (needs Node.js 24+ and uv). Warning: without a sandbox the agent has full access to your files.

    bash
    npm install -g @openhands/agent-canvas
    agent-canvas
  2. Safer: run each conversation in its own Docker container (needs Docker running):

    bash
    OH_CONVERSATION_RUNTIME=docker agent-canvas
  3. Open http://localhost:8000 and start a conversation. See the README for the single-container Docker command and self-hosting security notes.

Check the official OpenHands docs for the latest steps.
