Aider

What it does

Open-source AI pair programming in your terminal. It edits code in your local git repo and works with many LLMs (Claude, DeepSeek, OpenAI models and more).

Who it's for

Terminal fans who want git-tracked AI edits and a choice of models.

How to set it up

1. Install aider (Python 3.8–3.13):

   bashCopy

   python -m pip install aider-install
   aider-install

2. Or use the one-liner installer (macOS/Linux):

   bashCopy

   curl -LsSf https://aider.chat/install.sh | sh

3. cd into your project.

4. Run aider with your model and key, for example:

   bashCopy

   aider --model sonnet --api-key anthropic=<key>

Example prompts

Add input validation to the signup form.
