Context7

Official site ↗

What it does

Pulls up-to-date, version-specific library documentation and code examples into your prompt, so the AI stops relying on outdated training data or made-up APIs.

Who it's for

Anyone coding with AI on fast-moving frameworks (Next.js, React, Supabase, etc.).

How to set it up

  1. Quickest (needs Node.js 22.13+). It signs you in with OAuth, creates an API key and configures Cursor, Claude Code or OpenCode (--cursor / --claude / --opencode):

    bash
    npx ctx7 setup
  2. Manual: add the remote MCP server and pass your API key as a Bearer header. Free keys are at context7.com/dashboard.

    json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "context7": {
          "url": "https://mcp.context7.com/mcp",
          "headers": {
            "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
          }
        }
      }
    }
  3. Add 'use context7' to a prompt (or add a rule telling your agent to always use it) to pull in fresh docs.

Check the official docs for the latest steps.
